Volunteering Information

VOLUNTEERING AT WEST COAST

All families (from Sub-Junior 2 to Senior level) are required to complete a minimum of three hours volunteer time per year. There are a number of ways these hours can be completed and may include a roster at the CAWA Midvale complex.

Part of West Coast’s commitment to CAWA involves our club providing volunteers during competitions for the following:

assist backstage with curtains / props
door attendant (ensure that door is closed when item is on stage, check that the public are wearing wristbands as they enter auditorium)

marshalling (ensuring teams are ready to go on stage)

desk attendant (receiving stage sheets from coaches)

time keeping (timing items in the competition)

CAWA will always ensure there is always someone to go through what needs to be done when volunteers check in at the front desk (at least 30 mins prior to the start of the section) and there is always someone in the office or nearby if there are any issues.

A reminder that Desk and Marshall are able to go into the back of the auditorium to watch their child's items and are most welcome to join the other volunteers in the Committee room for any breaks, however they must return to their position as soon as the bells start to ring.

If you are rostered on to volunteer you do not have to purchase a ticket to watch the section.

Newcomers will be given support and guidance with regards to the duties involved.

Volunteering plays a crucial role in the success of our club and the smooth running of the CAWA Swan Park theatre.

Of course, we are more than happy for families to exceed the minimum 3 hours expected!!
